The Ritz-Carlton, Astana isn’t the first Ritz-Carlton property in Kazakhstan. But the Astania opening is a sign of the country’s desire to transform into a high-end destination within Central Asia.

The timing of the opening of the Ritz-Carlton, Astana is no accident. The city will be thrust onto the world stage in just a couple of days with the opening of Expo 2017.

The international exhibition will begin on June 10.  It is sure to put the entire country in the spotlight this summer.

Expo 2017 runs through Sept. 10 in Astana with a theme of “Future Energy.” It will encourage debate among countries on the question. “How do we ensure safe and sustainable access to energy for all while reducing CO2 emissions?”
